If you already know how to install games, ISOs, and PRX plugins, you can skip this section. The PSP homebrew scene tends to be focused more on utilities and emulators than on stand-alone games, but some of those utilities are pretty handy (like a built in file browser or the ability to push games to your PSP over the network), and it does have a small library of homebrew games as well, both original works and ports from other systems like Powder and Meritous. It’ll replace your Gameboy, but why stop there? Make a dent in that backlog of SNES, NES, Sega Genesis, and Master System games! If you’re adventurous you can even run some DOS and SCUMM games on it. There are a lot of emulators available for the PSP. With CFW, though, you can convert and play any of your PSX games, using freely available tools. Yeah, you can play your PSX games on the PSP already – if Sony has deigned to convert them, and you’re willing to buy them again on PSN. On top of that, plugins let you take screenshots, organize your games, apply unofficial patches, cheat, and even save and load state while in PSP games. The killer feature is the ability to dump UMDs to the memory stick and play them from there not only do you not need to haul discs around everywhere, but you get faster load times, longer battery life, and no constant clicking and whirring from the optical drive. Why custom firmware? PSP gamesĮven if you’re just playing PSP games and nothing else, it’s worth installing CFW. This post is documentation for my adventures with custom firmware (CFW) on the PSP. The PSP may be ten years old, but there’s still a lot you can do with it. ↳ Smartphones (Android, iStuff, tablets. Can I go ahead and transfer it to my memory card as it is, without having the VHBL save yet, or should I wait? If it helps, I have placed the gpsp folder in the PSAVEDATA\d486123c5cc22f14 folder, and it DOES show up in CMA, but I have not yet tried to transfer it. Any replies and any assistance would be appreciated. Not trying to be a nuisance, but I just can't seem to figure this out without having done it before. I asked this question an hour or so ago, and got no response. So, with this, have I set it up properly so that when I get the VHBL save file, I can just transfer both to my Vita from the PS Vita\PSAVEDATA\d486123c5cc22f14 folder, and that should be it, right? The GBA folder has five folders in it, and I placed all of my ROMs, uncompressed, in. In that folder, I have the folders 'cfg', 'font' and 'GBA', along with the files EBOOT.PBP, game_config.txt, dvemgr.prx, SystemButtons.prx and gba_bios.bin. The INSTALL.ZIP contains a folder named gpsp.

In the ULUS12345 folder, I have DATA.BIN, ICON0.PNG, PARAM.SFO, PIC1.PNG and INSTALL.ZIP. Let's call that folder ULUS12345, for the time being. Under the PS Vita\PSAVEDATA\d486123c5cc22f14 folder, I have the actual gpsp save file I downloaded from the Downloads section. I have the BIOS file and I have all of my ROMs. I have the gpsp save file that is ready for VHBL. I have Open CMA for 1.80 with the bugfix.
